Vincent Enyeama was the hero in Nigeria's penalty shoot-out victory over Zambia, as they booked a place in the African Cup of Nations semi-finals.
The Super Eagles were far from at their best in Lubango and had goalkeeper Enyeama to thank for their progression, as he saved one penalty and then scored the crucial final one after a 0-0 draw over 90 minutes and then extra-time.
Zambia had plenty of chances in the second half, but their failure to convert any of them led to the heartbreak of spot-kicks eventually deciding their fate, with Thomas Nyrienda missing the one penalty that made all the difference.
Handing Nigeria a place in the last four, where they will face fierce west African rivals Ghana on Thursday.
Mikel, Martins, Obinna, Peter Odemwingie and Enyeama all scored for their side, but despite Noah Chivuta, Katongo, Mayuka and Mweene netting for Zambia, Nyrienda missed the crucial fourth kick when Enyeama made an impressive stop to his right.
The Hapoel Tel Aviv goalkeeper then stepped up to score the goal and kill off the brave southern Africans.
