Frederic Kanoute has announced his retirement from international football following Mali's exit from the African Cup of Nations.
The 32-year-old striker, who scored two goals during the African Cup of Nations tournament and helped Mali beat Malawi 3-1 in their final group game on Monday, has now decided to make himself unavailable for future selection and will concentrate on his club career with Sevilla.
"That's life. I'm sorry I couldn't succeed in helping my team go further at the Nations Cup which now marks my retirement," he told the Angolan Angop news agency.
French-born Kanoute made his international debut in 2003 and went on to score 23 goals in 38 appearances.
