Idrissou the hero in five-goal thriller
Filed Sun 17 Jan

Cameroon closed on a place in the African Cup of Nations quarter-finals after Mohammad Idrissou scored a last gasp winner in a five-goal thriller with Zambia.

An exciting Group D clash was decided four minutes from time when Idrissou headed in from Geremi's set-piece, rising above the Zambia defence to power home, particularly gutting for Zambia who had just got back on equal terms four minutes prior.

Zambia had the better of the first half and went ahead inside 10 minutes through Jacob Mulenga, who tapped in after Cameroon defender Rigobert Song had bizarrely headed the ball against his own keeper.

Zambia should have doubled their lead before half-time, but in the second half it was a terrible mistake from their keeper Kennedy Mweene that allowed Geremi to equalise, as he inexplicably helped the ball into his own net. Before Samuel Eto'o gave Cameroon the lead in the 72nd minute, colecting Somen Tchoyi's cross and firing into the far corner.

Christopher Katongo thought he had earned a point for Zambia with an 82nd-minute penalty, following a rash challenge from Cameroon keeper Kameni on Mulenga. But Idrissou had the last word four minutes later, to ignite four-time Champions the Indomitable Lions African Cup of Nations campaign.
