African Cup of Nations holders Egypt booked a spot in the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Mozambique.
Egypt were on a high after beating Nigeria in their opening Group C encounter, although they had to wait until the second half to take the lead against Mozambique. The goal came courtesy of a Dario Khan own goal, and the defending champions made certain of the win in the 81st minute when substitute Mohamed Gedo scored.
Chances were at a premium for both sides, although the best of which did fall to Egypt.
And it was Egypt who went ahead just two minutes after the break in somewhat fortunate circumstances.
Hosni sent in a low cross from the right and Khan got to the ball first, but could only send it into his own net.
Mozambique managed to find the back of the net in the 58th minutes through Almiro Lobo, only to see the flag raised for offside.
Before Egypt sealed the win in some style, with nice build-up play between Ahmed Hassan and Moteab to play in Gedo, who flicked the ball up, turned and smashed a volley home.
Mozambique can still qualify if they beat Nigeria in their final group game and Egypt do not lose to Benin.
