Tournament hosts Angola grabbed their first victory in the African Cup of Nations with a 2-0 win over Malawi.
Angola responded well after throwing away their four-goal lead against Mali in the Group A opener, as they came up against a spirited Malawi who were on a high after their stunning 3-0 opening win over World Cup qualifiers Algeria.
Malawi were quickly pegged back in their own half by the attacking Angola side, in a game that was dominated by the host nation. However, Malawi were able to hold out througout the first half, and Angolan nerves were beginning to show.
Finally Angola broke the deadlock in the 48th minute when Djalma produced another fine cross and Flavio rose to head past Sanudi and give his side the lead.
Then five minutes later Angola took control of the game when Manucho pounced on a mistake by Malawi captain Peter Mponda, before placing a delightful chip over the Malawi keeper into the back of the net.
