Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has been named Ivorian player of the
year by the Ivorian football federation. Having won the accolade last
year, Toure has now collected the award for the second time in a row.
The
midfielder has won the golden ball, finishing before Chelsea striker
Didier Drogba and Lille playmaker Gervinho. Having won all club
competitions with Barcelona last season helped Toure gain the advantage
over his compatriots. Toure, who is currently in Angola preparing
for the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast squad, said,
"To be
considered twice in a row as the best player in a country where there
are top talents is fantastic. I am honored and would like to dedicate this to my parents and all my fans all over the world. Now let's go and do something good for this African Nations Cup." |
